Description
Colorado Parks and Wildlife biologists did a field count of boreal toads, a state endangered species. Each toad caught was check for the chytrid fungus, which attacks amphibians by destroying their skin, disrupting their immune systems and causing heart failure as a way to assess the health of the boreal toad population. The biologists collect the toads eggs to be hatched to restock in locations in southwest Colorado to reestablish the population in the state.
